    Individual Photo-taking Service for Graduates of 2023 (64th)

    To congratulate graduates on the successful completion of university studies, the Office of Student Affairs will provide each eligible graduate with a set of Individual Photos. After making an appointment with the studio, please bring along with your student ID card to the studio and have the photo-taking at the appointed time. Academic regalia of different sizes and for different faculties/schools will be made available at the studio. Please make your own appointment during the specified period to arrange the photo-taking services.

    All Mainland freshmen (UG) are welcome to join this programme!  Through interacting with your local Cantonese Peer Tutor and participating in the interactive Cantonese learning activities, you can learn Cantonese in the daily life and adjust to the life in HKBU and Hong Kong more easily.

    Cantonese Peer Tutoring Programme

    Cantonese Peer Tutoring Programme

    This programme is co-organised by the Language Centre and the Mainland Student Services Unit. It offers an interactive Cantonese learning platform for Mainland students. Local students serve as Cantonese Peer Tutors and teach Mainland Tutees Cantonese through interesting learning activities. Through this programme, Mainland Tutees can learn Cantonese in daily life and make friends with Peer Tutors, which can facilitate their adjustment and assimilation in HKBU and Hong Kong.

    The programme is divided into two phases:
    Phase 1
    Is conducted in September 2021.
    Includes a Cantonese pinyin lecture delivered by a lecturer of the Language Centre and three Cantonese lessons delivered by a Cantonese Peer Tutor. Each session lasts for two hours.
    Maintains a ratio between Peer Tutors and Tutees at around 1:10.
    Phase 2
    Is conducted in two rounds (October to December 2021; February to April 2022).
    Includes Cantonese learning activities in different formats, e.g. lunch gathering, tea gathering, city hunt, etc. Peer Tutors teaches Mainland Tutees to use Cantonese in daily life.
    Maintains a ratio between Peer Tutors and Tutees at around 1:3. (Limited quota for Mainland Tutees, first-come first-served)

    [UG] PUNCH For Your Health – Thai-Boxing Training And Service Programme  (Phase 2)

    Being mindful of and taking actions to improve one’s physical and mental health is crucial especially during the post-pandemic recovery.  
    In PUNCH for Your Health, students will learn the sports and strengthen oneself, then carry forward the positivity by providing training to some underprivileged teenagers in the community.  After the training, with a bond built up between the students and the teenagers, the teenagers will be invited to visit HKBU campus for a personal development workshop, to be delivered by the students.

    The Senate regulates the academic affairs of the University as well as the welfare and discipline of the students. Therefore, it is essential that students are represented so that their views and concerns are adequately addressed in the Senate. This Election exercise will elect four undergraduate members from COMM, SCA, SCI & SOSC and one representative for taught postgraduate programmes.
