The 69th Convocation

The 67th Convocation 6 Sep 2022

The Convocation ceremony marks an important tradition of the University to celebrate the beginning of an academic year. All HKBU new students are encouraged to attend their first ceremony with the University to be held on 30th August 2024 (Friday). At the Convocation, the President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alexander Ping-kong WAI, will give an important message to students. Students will also be able to understand more about the University and start experiencing university life.

Date: 30th August 2024 (Friday)
Time: 2:30 p.m.– 4:15 p.m. (Admittance starts at 2:00 p.m.)
Venue: Academic Community Hall (AC Hall), Ho Sin Hang Campus

Registration and Attendance

Registration

  1. Registration for the ceremony will start from 14th August to 26th August 2024 on here. Students who have successfully registered for the event will receive a confirmation email. Registration status can also be found on the Student Learning Experience System (SLES).
  2. Admittance to the Academic Community Hall (AC Hall) will start at 2:00 p.m.  All student participants should be seated by 2:30 p.m. Late-comers will not be admitted.

Co-Curricular Learning (CCL) Recognition

  1. One unit of Co-Curricular Learning (CCL) will be counted for attending the ceremony and completion of evaluation.
  2. CCL will NOT be counted if
    1. Students attend the ceremony late or leave early
    2. Students who do not follow rules and requirements during the ceremony
    3. Students do not complete the CCL evaluation form and submit it on time (only submission after the ceremony will be accepted)
    4. Students attended the Convocation in previous years

Gowns

  1. Students should dress properly in academic gowns to attend the ceremony. Students without gown will NOT be admitted.
  2. Students should collect the gown after registering for the Convocation. The details of gown collection will be sent to you by email after registration. Self-financed undergraduate degree programme students shall contact their programme offices for the collection of gowns.

Bad Weather Arrangement

When Typhoon Signal No.8 or above is hoisted

Arrangement

Before 10:00 a.m.

Stay alert and observe the latest typhoon development

At 10:00 a.m. or after

The Convocation will be cancelled

 

When "Black" Rainstorm Warning Signal is issued

Arrangement 

Between 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Convocation will continue until the completion of the event

Between 8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

The Convocation will be cancelled
