The development of a new cognitive testing apps (EC screen) and understanding the needs of people with cognitive impairment in Hong Kong
- Delivered by Dr. Kenny CHUI

The ageing population is rapid in Hong Kong and people got aware of the prevalence of dementia. Brain health and the prevention of getting dementia have become major concerns in public health.

Facing the challenge of COVID-19, most of the medical assessments and social services were suspended which caused much inconvenience to people with dementia as well as their family members. With the innovation of the Jockey Club Centre for Positive Ageing and Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, a newly developed app, called "EC screen" was produced. EC screen is an online cognitive screening tool for the citizens and it takes around 10-15 minutes to complete so that the participants will have a preliminary suggestion about their cognitive conditions. A post-diagnostic support programme will be applied for follow-up and you will know more about how we can support people with dementia in the community.
