COMPANY INFO

Pony.ai was founded at the end of 2016 with the mission to revolutionise transportation by creating the safest, most reliable and state-of-the-art technologies for autonomous vehicles. It has developed a full-stack system to accurately monitor the vehicle's surroundings, predict motion behaviours of other road users, and precisely plan reactions accordingly. It has gained backing from world-leading venture investors including Sequoia Capital and IDG Capital.

ACHIEVEMENTS
Pony.ai was granted an autonomous vehicle testing permit by the California Department of Motor Vehicles within six months of launch, and testing licenses by the Beijing government in June 2018. The company raised around US$230 million as of June 2018, becoming China’s most valuable autonomous driving start-up by valuation.

TEAM
James Peng (CEO and Co-Founder) is a seasoned engineer, who is formerly Baidu’s Chief Architect in the US and a Google Founders’ Award recipient during his days at Google. Lou Tiancheng (CTO and Co-Founder) is a legendary Chinese coder known as “ACRush” within the programming community. He ranked the first for ten consecutive years running in TopCoder China competition, and won Google Code Jam globally, twice. Andrew Yao (Chief Advisor) is the only Chinese recipient of Turing Award —— Computer Science’s answer to Nobel Prize. Harry Hu (COO and Acting CFO) is a mentor of MIT Innovation Initiative and formerly the TMT Lead at ICBC International in Hong Kong.
