Start-up: Ceramic Cycle
Information:
Ceramics Cycle is a new project looking to change how we deal with old and broken ceramics in Hong Kong. Instead of throwing these ceramics away, we want to make them sustainably to extend their usage. We take these unwanted ceramics and break them down into a material called grog. People usually mix grog with clay to make it better for making pottery, but we've got bigger plans. While one of our significant applications involves creating 3D-printed structures for coral reef restoration, the potential uses for the recycled grog extend far beyond that. We're looking into lots of different ways to use our recycled grog. We also want to get people involved and excited about recycling.
We're running workshops to teach others how to recycle ceramics and find new ways to reduce waste. This helps everyone see that what we usually consider trash can be turned into something extraordinary. The Ceramics Cycle is all about caring for our environment and finding new ways to use things we might think are useless. We want to show that we can make a difference for our planet and our future with some creativity.
