According to the prevailing University Housing Policy, UGC-funded full-time non-local undergraduate students will be provided with hostel places in the University accommodation in their first year of studies. In their subsequent years of studies, students can apply for the University accommodation, subject to availability.
 
Remarks:
1. Non-local undergraduate students who are recipients of a Full Admissions Scholarship will be provided with University accommodation throughout their studies. This is not applicable to recipients who have been denied renewal of their scholarships by the University Scholarship Committee.  
2. Different accommodation packages and fees will apply according to the availability of hostel places in the University accommodations.
 
 
Students must possess a student status of “Normal Study” as defined by the Academic Registry during the stay in the Student Halls. You may check your student status in BUniPort > Profile > Personal Particulars & Study Record. Students who cease to be classified as “Normal Study” (e.g. taking an internship) will no longer be eligible for student accommodation and will be required to check out of the student residence.

Successful Student Residence applicants for the Residential Year 2024/25 are to be offered Student Residence places for the period below:

Residential Period: 16 August 2024 to 21 May 2025, both nights inclusive

Requests for early check-in or late check-out will NOT be considered.

Student Residence Offer will be recovered for students who fail to pay the lodging fees on time or check in within 7 days from the first day of the Student Residence offer period, and they will be deemed to have already stayed in the Student Residence during the offer period in their future Student Residence applications.

Eligible students should submit Student Residence applications HERE. Change of Student Residence application information is allowed before the application deadline.
 
An acknowledgement email will be sent to you shortly after you have successfully submitted or edited the Student Residence application. If you do not receive the acknowledgment email, please contact the Student Accommodation Section as soon as possible.

Hall application result including Hall allocation and room type assignment will be announced via email notification in late-July. Room assignment results will be announced upon check-in. 

Lodging Fees for students with Full Year student accommodation offer are to be paid by two installments and are NOT transferrable or refundable.
Lodging Fees listed below refer to the residential period from 16 Aug 2024 to 21 May 2025 (both nights inclusive). 
NO refund of lodging fee will be arranged even if you check-in to the student residence later than 16 Aug 2024.

In addition to lodging fees, all residents need to pay Caution Money ($1,000) and Orientation Fee ($300 for first-time residents) in the 1st installment. For details, click here.

Payment Period of 2nd installment:
Early to mid November 2024
Deferred payment of Lodging Fees is not acceptable. Subject to special prior approval, a penalty of $300 will be levied on students who pay the Lodging Fees after the deadline.
 
Payment Method
The Lodging Fee debit note will be posted in BUniPort. Please make sure you have input:
 
  1. Bill type, and
  2. Debit note number
during your payment process. Direct transfer of money to University bank account is not considered as successful payment. Please click HERE for detailed payment methods. You should keep good custody of the payment record and be able to present it upon request.

All personal data collected and retained will be used for processing applications, statistical analysis, management of student residence including the enforcement of all its related rules, promotion of activities and notifications, contacting residents and their parents/guardian in case of emergency and such other purposes permissible under the Privacy Policy Statement and Personal Information Collection Statement of the University.
