Start-up: AIxVR Psychotherapy

Information: 

Our AI × VR psychotherapy system is a product that integrates innovative technology and traditional psychotherapy to help solve common mental health problems, such as depression, among HK people. It offers a wide range of immersive therapy scenarios to help clients face and learn to deal with their sources of stress or anxiety, thereby reducing their symptoms. Different levels and types of treatments are provided for various mental health conditions, including depression, social anxiety disorder, autism spectrum disorder, and anxiety related to separation. By providing a safe and controlled virtual environment, clients can engage in compassion-focused therapy, VR exposure therapy, narrative therapy, and mindfulness techniques, all within the comfort of your hospital's therapy rooms.

It's worth mentioning that we have trained a simple and effective speech emotion recognition algorithm based on multi-feature and multi-languages fusion and applied it in the VR psychotherapy scenario designed for depressive clients. Specifically, when the players giving compassionate response to the crying child, the implemented model can accurately recognize players' emotions from their voices and then present the proportion of each type of emotion, assisting in analyzing the situation of the players. Currently there is almost no real VR therapy in Hong Kong or Asia market; comparing with the western university trial research in VR technology, our system gets more data types such as speech emotion recognition data, heart rate, breathing rate, blood pressure, and heart rate variability. It’s expected that numerous clinical groups, health related organizations as well as hospital would benefit from our system once it has been commercialized.
