The Kai Tak New Development Area is a vast and highly complex urban development project in Hong Kong, transforming the former airport site for future residential and commercial purposes while also catalyzing the revitalization of surrounding older districts. The Kai Tak Outline Zoning Plan is designed to develop Kai Tak into a green and tourism hub that aligns with public desires for a low-carbon, people-oriented area facing Victoria Harbour. The guided walking tour, led by a professional town planner, will showcase key features of the area, including:

(1) Kai Tak Station Square - a newly designed public open space.
(2) Kai Tak River Upgrading Works - a demonstration of "blue-green infrastructure."
(3) Kai Tak City Centre Neighbourhood - a model of a new-generation living community with the preservation of Lung Tsun Stone Bridge.

[CCL] Mosaic Tales: Guided Tour to explore the history of Kowloon City through the Mosaic Tiles

Mosaic Tiles (紙皮石) have been a handy material for clothing the exterior walls efficiently without compromising the aesthetics of Hong Kong architecture since the 1950s when the city steadily expanded, and the cityscape was drastically reformed to greet the boom of economy and population. In recent years, mosaic tiles have been extended from a construction material to a cultural symbol of Hong Kong architecture. The classic patterns of mosaic tile are widely adopted in various daily products and artworks, which are popular among the locals and the visitors.

The community tour will be conducted by a professional town planner, guiding participants through the old district of Kowloon City to explore the craftsmanship, beauty, and applications of mosaic tiles. Meandering through the area, the group will also get to know about the development history and transformation of the neighbourhood, as well as the stories and traditions of the local community.
