Residential education plays a key role in the liberal arts education that HKBU offers and in Whole Person Development, which has been the central tenet of the University’s educational philosophy since its establishment. Through participation in residential life, students complement their academic learning with crucial social skills.

The HKBU student accommodations house around 3,800 students on campus. Village CARE, which adopts residential education, works in synchrony with other elements of the formal and informal curricula to accomplish the Best Student Experience by emphasizing innovative co-creation, global awareness and an international outlook, holistic education, and caring for the neighborhood. The Student Residence Halls have been nurturing students’ personal growth and interpersonal development through a wide range of well-structured learning programs and activities. Student residents from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds work closely together in a culturally and intellectually stimulating living-learning environment. In this environment, internationalisation is promoted and support for both local and non-local students is enhanced.
