Become a Tutee of Cantonese Peer Tutoring Programme

 

All Mainland freshmen (UG) are welcome to join this programme!  Through interacting with your local Cantonese Peer Tutor and participating in the interactive Cantonese learning activities, you can learn Cantonese in the daily life and adjust to the life in HKBU and Hong Kong more easily.

 

Phase 1
Content:

1. One Cantonese pinyin lecture delivered by a lecturer of the Language Centre.

2. Four Cantonese lessons delivered by a Cantonese Peer Tutor.  Each session lasts for two hours.

Date and Time:

Pinyin lecture: 1 September 2025 (Monday) 10:30am-12:30pm

Cantonese Lessons (please select one of the following group):

Group A: 8, 15, 22, 29 September 2025 (Monday) 7:00-9:00pm
Group B: 9, 16, 23, 30 September 2025 (Tuesday) 7:00-9:00pm
Group C: 10, 17, 24 September & 8 October 2025 (Wednesday) 7:00-9:00pm
Group D: 11, 18, 25 September & 2 October 2025 (Thursday) 7:00-9:00pm

 

Phase 2
Content:
  • Cantonese learning activities in different formats, e.g. lunch gathering, tea gathering, city hunt, etc.
  • ​Peer Tutors teaches Mainland Tutees to use Cantonese in daily life.
Period:October to December 2025(Round 1); February to April 2026 (Round 2)
Application:Please submit your application to the Language Centre/your Cantonese Peer Tutor in September 2025. (Limited quota, first-come first-served)
