Background

The YA Programme is a flagship talent development programme of the Government and the Youth Development Commission(YDC) that aims at identifying and grooming a cadre of outstanding young people who are passionate to serve society and committed to striving for the future of our country and Hong Kong. Past cohorts of the selected Youth Ambassadors (YAs) were arranged to receive a series of top-notch and diverse leadership training, attend international events and conferences, participate in the Mainland and overseas youth exchange programmes, and take part in community projects for the benefit of the local community.

Some YAs with outstanding performance have also been appointed to serve on various government advisory boards and committees, contributing to enhanced youth participation in public policy discussions.

YA Programme 2025

Under the YA Programme 2025, the recruited participants will have the opportunity to:

  • receive comprehensive training covering aspects such as public affairs, national and international developments, leadership skills and personal development;

  • conduct direct and in-depth exchanges with senior government officials, senior corporate executives, leading academics as well as other leaders from the public and private sectors;

  • engage in community building projects (including Care Teams’ service projects);

  • participate in visits/exchanges in the Mainland and overseas;

  • participate in large-scale government events and international events and conferences held in town or outside Hong Kong;

  • join the Youth Link under the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau; and be considered for appointment to government advisory bodies after programme completion.

YDC is recruiting 60 young people with vision, commitment and leadership qualities to participate as YA cadets in the 2025 cycle. To qualify as the YDC Youth Ambassadors 2025, participants should attain an overall attendance of 70% or above in all programme training and activities.
