[CCL] Upcycling Plastic Bags into Raden-Style Jewellery: Crafting Recycled “Shell Inlay” Brooch Pins

Raden (螺鈿) is a traditional Intangible Cultural Heritage technique celebrated for its intricate shell inlay artistry. In this workshop, we reinterpret this craft by replacing delicate mother-of-pearl with upcycled plastic materials, transforming everyday waste into shimmering wearable art.

All plastic “shell” fragments are sourced from cleaned and layered discarded plastic bags, snack wrappers, bubble mailers, and packaging films. Participants will then inlay these vibrant recycled pieces into metal brooch bases and seal them with clear resin, achieving the lustrous shimmer characteristic of genuine shell inlays.

Join us to explore this innovative blend of traditional technique and sustainable practice, crafting beautiful jewellery while giving new life to plastic waste.

It’s wintertime! You are challenged to use your summer clothes to style winter outfits.

Share with us your styling pieces by submitting photos/a video of your recreation, original pieces, and remaking process and win the prize!

To show the versatility of a piece of clothing, you can layer, sew, or make any amendments as you please, but you must use at least 2 pieces of summer clothes in your winter outfit

[CCL]Hike without Trace (Student-initiated Green Quest activity)

With the beautiful weather upon us, it would be a shame to stay indoors. What better way to enjoy it than by going on a hike with friends?

But while we’re soaking in the fresh air and stunning views, we can also give back to nature and our community. During Hike Without Trace, we’ll learn simple ways to minimize our environmental impact and help keep the hiking trails clean by picking up litter left behind.

A healthy environment goes hand in hand with our own well-being. So why not take this opportunity to stay active, connect with nature, and make a positive difference?

Join us for a fun, relaxing, and rewarding outdoor adventure!
