Kaiping Diaolou & Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience Tour

Discover the rich and diverse culture of Guangdong through an immersive study tour to Kaiping!

Set against the backdrop of historic villages and UNESCO World Heritage sites, this activity combines pre-trip workshops with an experiential tour to provide students with a hands-on learning experience and deepen their appreciation of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

Key Aims & Highlights:

• To explore tangible and intangible cultural heritage by visiting the UNESCO-listed Kaiping Diaolou and local villages in Guangdong.
• To foster cross-regional student engagement and mutual understanding through collaborative pre-trip workshops, site visits, and shared learning activities.
• To deepen appreciation for heritage preservation and examine how historic architecture and local customs contribute to cultural continuity in the region.
• To explore the unique traditional cultures and the wisdom of the past.

Screening Interview

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend a screening interview on 22, 23 and 28 October 2026. To indicate the acceptance of offer, the programme fee has be to settled before the given deadline. All fee paid are non-refundable.

(Selected participants are required to pay a refundable deposit of HKD $700* to confirm their place)

*The deposit will be fully refunded upon full attendance at all activities (including pre-tour workshops and the exhibition) and completion of the reflection paper.

This activity is subsidized by the UGC "Whole Person Development Fund" for UGC-funded undergraduate students.

Important Notes

Successful applicants must fulfill the travel requirements (if any) as required by the country and bear own costs of visa application (if applicable). 

Remark

This is a CCL-recognised programme. Students who attend on time and complete all activities will receive 2 CCL units (National Education).
