Themed "BU Students X Patients Alliance (BU S.P.A.) 浸大症義聯盟," the HKBU Community Service Day 2025 is a passionate call to action, rallying our community to support individuals grappling with health conditions that significantly impact young lives. From arthritis (關節炎) and Paediatric Rheumatology (兒童風濕) to lupus (紅斑狼瘡), Eczema (濕疹), and stroke (中風), we are determined to raise awareness, ignite empathy, and empower our students to create joyful experiences for those facing these challenges. Together, we will cultivate a spirit of hope and solidarity, proving that through compassion and creativity, we can make a profound difference in the lives of others.
Conditions traditionally linked to older adults are increasingly affecting younger populations. This shift underscores the urgent need for heightened awareness among our students. Chronic diseases are affecting not only physical health but also psychological and social well-being, creating challenges for the patients and their families. It is essential that patients and their caregivers can receive the appropriate support.
This year, "BU Students X Patients Alliance," invites HKBU students to engage in this important endeavour. By standing in solidarity with those facing these challenges, we can foster a compassionate community that advocates for greater awareness and support through Service Day and Service Fair. Participation in this programme will provide students with valuable insights into pertinent health issues and help cultivate a culture of empathy and action.
We are aiming to serve 200 beneficiaries! Join us and be a part of our force!
In the HKBU Community Service Day 2025, students can either participate as Organising Committee Members (OC) or Volunteers. Besides carrying out volunteer services, OC will assist in the overall programme delivery and take up leadership roles during services, while volunteers will be responsible for delivering voluntary services.

The Community Service Day aims to spread happiness to individuals facing health challenges by serving patients and their caregivers. HKBU students are encouraged to harness their creativity and empathy to design and implement a series of engaging activities, ensuring a fun experience while cultivating a deeper understanding and compassion towards those affected.
In addition to the Service Day, a Service Fair will be held at HKBU to promote health information to the public, featuring promotional booths, charity sales, and a human library to raise awareness of the difficulties faced by patients and caregivers. This fair will provide students with the opportunity to share their insights and experiences, fostering greater understanding and empathy towards those affected by these chronic diseases, and inspiring a culture of compassion and proactive engagement within the community.

The HKBU Community Service Day 2025 was successfully held on March 15. Sponsored by the Tin Ka Ping Foundation, the event aimed to cultivate a spirit of service among students and enhance their leadership skills. Over 100 patients with chronic illnesses and their carers attended the event. It was led by a committee of 12 student organisers and supported by 35 student volunteers. After months of preparation, the students designed a series of themed activities tailored to the needs of the participants, including interactive games, an acupressure workshop, and a handicraft session. The beneficiaries and students also collaborated to create an art piece, expressing their resilience and positive mindset in facing life's challenges. In the end, everyone shared their hopes and well wishes for life with one another.
"HKBU Community Service Day 2024 - Serve Tour-gather" was held on 13 April 2024. More than 230 beneficiaries explored HKBU's accessible and inclusive campus. They visited other parts of Hong Kong, receiving services from our student volunteers, who designed and delivered those services to foster their creativity and leadership. Prior to the service day, student volunteers also received trainings and guidances from professional staff from NGOs in March.
Our organising committee recieved the award of "Outstanding Volunteer Team" by the Social Welfare Department, in recognition of their effort and performance in serving different groups of the community.
