It significantly broadens my horizon and enriches my all-round development.

As a proud recipient of the HKBU Alumni Gratitude Scholarship, I am humbled by the generosity of the alumni donors who have made it possible for me to continue my studies. This scholarship has been a significant source of support and encouragement for me.

The scholarship has been a huge help in my study as I am pursuing a bachelor's degree in Entrepreneurship Concentration, and the primary use of the scholarship is to cover the tuition fee and related expenses, such as textbooks and computer programmes. This has enabled me to focus more fully on my studies without worrying about the financial strain that often comes with pursuing higher education. Additionally, purchasing grammar checking programmes can help me analyzes errors, including grammatical and spelling mistakes, in my school work. And an interface design software can allow me to brainstorm ideas, design prototypes, or build solutions. Being an Entrepreneurship Concentration student, innovation always matters.

With the help of the scholarship, I have achieved excellent outcomes in my studies. I have been developing my skills and knowledge, like learning to use new design computer programme and knowledge related to entrepreneurship.  I am excited about this scholarship's impact on my further education and future planning. It is planned to use the scholarship for learning website design courses in the future. The scholarship has also significantly impacted my further education and future planning. Enrolling in the Summer Study Abroad program in Communication for PR and Advertising at the University of the Arts London was a life-changing experience for me. Thanks to the scholarship I received, I am able to take part in this program and expand my knowledge and skills in the field of communication.

During the program, I will have the opportunity to learn from some of the best professionals in the industry. The curriculum is designed to equip us with the latest knowledge and practices in communication, public relations, and advertising. The program also allows me to meet with fellow students from all around the world, which helped me broaden my horizons and understand different perspectives. Apart from academic life, I will have the opportunity to visit some of the city's most famous landmarks and museums, including the British Museum, the National Gallery, and the Tower of London.

Aside from the program, I also used part of the scholarship money to purchase textbooks and study materials to help me continue my study of the Japanese language. Learning Japanese has always been a personal interest of mine. My goal is to take the N3 examination, which is an intermediate level language proficiency test. With the help of the textbooks, I was able to improve my reading, writing, and speaking skills in Japanese. (... more)

It is my honor to receive the Alumni Gratitude Scholarship. It helps me a lot in reducing the financial burden on study fees.

When I received the email about receiving this Scholarship, I did not believe I could receive this scholarship. It is unbelievable. As there are too many students applying for this scholarship, I did not imagine that I could apply for it successfully. I am grateful that I gave it a try at first.

I am always busy with balancing study and work. I was born in a normal family. After graduating from secondary school, I wanted to reduce the financial burden for my family and started having part time jobs after the DSE exam. I hope I can work to support my daily expenses and the study fees. These expenses are not a small amount for me. I started to have second and even third part time jobs. Thus, my main challenge is to balance studying, working and rest. My main part time job is being a waitress and thus, I need to stand all the time. I am tired and need rest. Sometimes, I need to meet my teammates and start our group projects after work. This scholarship is important for me, as it can support part of the study fee and reduce my pressure. That means I can have more time to rest and focus more on my studies.

Written examination is a big challenge for me. I have learning difficulties in reading and writing. It is not easy for me to explain my understanding (... more)

As a final year student, I am honored and grateful to be a recipient of the HKBU Alumni Gratitude Scholarship. This scholarship recognizes my efforts in pursuing academic and non-academic excellence and improving my academic performance, despite facing challenges associated with my SEN status.

I have used the scholarship to cover the costs of textbooks, software, and other academic expenses, as well as to participate in academic and extracurricular activities that have enriched my university experience.

One of the key benefits of the scholarship has been the opportunities it has provided me to pursue my academic interests and develop my skills. I was able to attend additional supplementary courses related to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning that helped me gain a deeper understanding of this field and develop my programming skills. I also participated in a competition named Huawei ICT Competition in 2022-2023, which helped me develop my critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Despite the positive outcomes, there have been obstacles encountered along the way, as a result of my SEN status. One of the main challenges has been managing my time and balancing my academic commitments with my personal needs. I have had to learn how to manage my time effectively and prioritize my tasks to ensure that I am able to meet all of my obligations, while also taking care of my personal needs.

In the future, I plan to pursue a career in the tech industry, with a focus on using technology to (... more)

This scholarship symbolizes my efforts finally being awarded and serves as a recognition of myself. Also, it is proof and award of my academic work after last semester.

In the last year, I encountered lots of obstacles. I was infected COVID and undergone an unexpected gynecological surgery and suffered from its side effects for a long time. It strongly affected me and made my emotions become more unstable and therefore, I collapsed, having panic attacks very often. I realized I needed help so I followed my psychiatrist and psychologist strictly, visited them on time and have some therapy. Luckily, my psychological disorder did not turn more severe. After that, I am trying different ways to cope with stress and unstable emotions.

The scholarship helps me a lot to cope with my financial burden. This contribution to my education is so genius and will allow me to continue to focus on my study. I want to use this scholarship to support part of my tuition fee because I want to apply for the master’s degree program (Master of Arts in Cultural Management) at CUHK. It largely decreases my financial burden because the tuition fee is expensive. After that, I want to find a job related to historical and cultural heritage. I am now serving as a student intern at Hong Kong Examination and Assessment Authority categorizing archives. I am also the student ambassador of the Hong Kong Palace Museum. With all these experiences and recognition, I hope that I can work in a museum in the future. It took me a while to decide on my career path, but now I discover that this is what I want. I believed that I could have excellent development based on my determination. (... more)
