I am grateful to be one of the recipients of the HKBU Alumni Gratitude Scholarship (AGS) this year. The scholarship gives me a great motivation to thrive for the highest in my future study. I must take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to the donors of the scholarship for their generous support as well as the committee who provides me with this opportunity to be one of the awardees.
I am a final year student. My honours project for graduation relates to the topic of music education for children with special educational needs. Music education always serves as an effective means for students to achieve developmental and therapeutic purposes especially for those with special needs. Hence, I plan to be a music educator as my professional career in the future.
A music educator can enlighten the minds of the future generations and provide them with platforms and skills to unleash their full potential not only musically but also intellectually. To achieve my goal to engage in the teaching profession, I have a dream to further equip myself especially in the field of music education. Nevertheless, to pursue further education after my graduation in the university really imposes financial pressure on my family. Now, the scholarship undoubtedly let my lifelong dream approach nearer since the fund will lessen the financial burden of my family to support my continuous study after university graduation.
As a recipient of this award, I have decided to utilize the fund to study Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) or to study a master’s degree in music education aiming to have my horizon broadened and equip myself as a well-trained music educator. I think these programmes could help me develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes as well as equip me to be more competent and confident to be a fully qualified music educator in the future.
Once again, thank you all the alumni donors for their generosity and continuous support to our alma mater. I am truly grateful for receiving the scholarship support and I hope HKBU Alumni Gratitude Scholarship will benefit more students in the future and makes their life difference.
