First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to the donors, and this is my great honor to be selected as one of the recipients of the HKBU Alumni Gratitude Scholarship. This scholarship allows me to expand my horizon by subsidizing me to participating in various courses and activities.
With the scholarship, I am able to settle part of my tuition fee. Hence, I do not have to bear tremendous financial burden and thus I can have more time to participate in the activities that I am interested in, like debating and doing voluntary service. It significantly broadens my horizon and enriches my all-round development.
As a second-year student majoring in communication with special educational needs, I always encounter myriads of challenges in my academic journey, for instance, side effects of medication. It makes me hard to focus on studies. Also, the steroids weaken my immune system, which makes me always hospitalized. However, I never give up and I am grateful to have special arrangements of classes and exams which offer a lending hand to me. In addition, being a student with special educational needs does not mean that I am worse than others. Besides, I am much stronger and perseverant. Last year, I interned at one of the leading advertising agencies, Dentsu, this enabled me to gain more experience and have a better understanding of the media industry. I believe that the knowledge and experience that I acquired will be beneficial to my future career as a media executive.
Last but not least, I would like to say thanks again to our alumni and the school. Your scholarship has eased my financial burden and allowed me to join different events, which enables me to explore different aspects of my life. Apart from studying, I can still attend other courses and participate in multitudes of extracurricular activities. Your generosity has inspired me to help other students with SEN and give back to society. Thank you for giving me recognition on my academic performance. It gives me more confidence to overcome different difficulties and challenges in my life.
