There are various types of student organisations in HKBU. The Students’ Union (HKBUSU) is an independent organisation for undergraduate students; the Postgraduate Association, HKBUPA, which serves all postgraduate students; Academic Societies which made up by the students in the same Faculty/School/Major; Hall Councils are for students who enrolled to the four undergraduate halls; Interest Clubs those focus on types of sports, providing services, enhancing social affairs engagement and other specialties; and International Student Club serve as a platform to facilitate communication between international students, local students and the University.

The University encourages every student to engage in activities initiated by student organisations. However, joining any such organisations is entirely voluntary. Becoming a member of a student organisation may involve payment of a membership fee. Students may participate in activities organised by these organisations accordingly to their interests:
