Note: No early check-in will be considered, residents should plan ahead for their own accommodation if they will arrive before the earliest check-in date.

Bring your Student Card to the Check-in Counter

Please prepare an Octopus Card for use of Air-con and Laundry machine.

Go to your room, and:
  1. Check all in-room items

  2. Complete the In-room Item Confirmation and Health Declaration within 48 hours.

Note: If you do not complete them on time, the University will assume that:

  1. your room is free from any defects, and

  2. you will be responsible for the make good or replacement cost for any items found missing or malfunctioning during room inspection if such defected items were not reported in the Student Residence Online System before.

Bring your passport/entry permit to the Check-in Counter

Please prepare an Octopus Card for use of Air-con and Laundry machine.

*Your student card is issued by the HKBU Academic Registry. If your student card is not ready for collection at our counter, you will need to visit the Academic Registry during office hours to collect it before you can check in.

Go to your room, and:
  1. Check all in-room items

  2. Complete the In-room Item Confirmation and Health Declaration within 48 hours.

When typhoon signal No. 8 or above or Black Rainstorm Warning is hoisted:

  • Non-local students may continue with your trips to the Halls. We would arrange you to check into the rooms. But you need to visit our Service Counter(Room 201 of Jockey Club Campus of Creativity) on the next working day to complete the check-in procedures.
  • For local students, the check-in procedures will be postponed to the next working day.

Welcome to the Student Residence Halls in 2025/26! As you are about to check in to the Halls, you are strongly advised to pay attention to the following must-know information to ensure a healthy and safe living in the Halls. 

Do NOT Use Any Device that Generates Scent, Smoke or Heat

NO fragrance, mosquito coils, or insect foggers should be used in the bedrooms as they will trigger the fire alarm system. Use of any device that generates scent, smoke or heat such as aroma diffuser and electric insert repellent is strictly prohibited within the hall area.

Flammability Standards of Mattresses and Upholstered Furniture

You MUST obtain prior approval from the  Management of Student Residences before you bring your own mattress / upholstered furniture into the Halls.

Mails, Parcels and Deliveries

Parcel and mail services are applicable for CHECKED-IN residents only. Ordinary mails will be sent to the mailbox on the G/F. The following parcels or deliveries will not be handled, the ACCM General Office will email residents for collection of their parcels or deliveries:

  1. items without accurate and complete information,
  2. items that require signature/payment,
  3. items of any side longer than 60cm
  4. perishable food e.g. frozen food
  5. any items that hinder the operation of the ACCM General Office

Please note that items uncollected for 5 working days will be returned to sender accordingly. If you are not able to collect the items, you may email accm_info@hkbu.edu.hk to authorize another HKBU student to collect it on your behalf. A $10 administration fee per day per uncollected parcel would be charged on the resident who claims the verified parcel from the 4th working day onwards and before it is returned to the respective courier.

Residents are highly recommended not to leave the parcel unattended in the communal areas of the University. Any unattended parcel that contains no identified recipient found in Hostel Areas will be passed to the University Security Control Centre as Lost and Found Items.

While those identified, they will be kept for 5 working days and a $100 administration fee per unattended parcel would be charged to residents for claiming the parcel during the 2nd to 5th working days.

Bringing in Large or Electrical Items into the Student Residence Halls

You MUST obtain prior approval from the Management of Student Residences before you bring in items with any side longer than 1 meter or Electrical appliances with high power consumption (except light appliances for grooming purpose). For details, please click HERE. Residents, especially non-local residents who come to Hong Kong for their first time, are advised to read the Safe Use of Plugs, Adaptors and Extension Units.  Any 2-pin plugs and other substandard adaptors are NOT allowed.

Luggage

Bring minimum luggage to the Student Residence Halls on the day of check-in to avoid congestion. There is no provision of beddings in the room.

The following items are not allowed in the Student Residence Halls:

  • Alcohol or drugs
  • Cigarettes
  • Weapons
  • Pets and animals
  • Mahjong and other gambling materials
  • Electrical appliances not complying with local safety standards
  • Deep reach insect fogger(滅蚤煙霧器), fragrance, mosquito coils
  • Any device that generates scent, smoke or heat

You must obtain prior approval in order to bring in the following items into the Student Residence Halls:

  • Your own mattress/upholstered furniture 
  • Any items with any side longer than 1 meter 
  • Electrical appliances with high power consumption 
Key Issuance for Student Residence Halls Residents
  • Washroom keys and mailbox keys can be obtained upon request at the ACCM General Office#.
  • All borrowed keys must be returned to the ACCM General Office by check-out. In case of loss or damage, restitution charges will apply ($100 for the washroom key and $30 for the mailbox key), which will be deducted from the caution money.

#An email notification will be sent when the keys are ready.
#Only successful applicants can collect the applied keys.

Tower : N – North Tower; S – South Tower
Floor : it is a 1- or 2-digit number
Room : it is a 2-digit number
Bed : L – bed on the left side when you enter the room
          R – bed on the right side when you enter the room
          A – lower section of the bunk bed
          B – upper section of the modular set
          C – upper section of the bunk bed

For example, S 12 34 L denotes:
        South Tower
        12/F
        Room number 34
        Left bed

Air-conditioning and Laundry Service

In-room air-conditioning and laundry machines on the 1/F are self-paid by using the Octopus Payment Kiosks installed in the 1/F Laundry Rooms or via mobile payment using the "Student Hostel Payment" feature on the HKBU Mobile App. Octopus Cards and multiple mobile payment methods are accepted. 

*Non-local freshmen and Exchange students are reminded that they should obtain Octopus Cards upon arrival in Hong Kong. Details of Octopus Cards are available HERE

Charge of Air-conditioning:
HK$1.4 per kWh

Charge of Laundry machines:

  • HK$5.4 per washing cycle around 40mins

  • HK$2 per 10 mins drying

Internet

Residents are able to access the HKBU campus network in the Student Residence Halls through both wired and wireless connections. The details of internet connections are available HERE.

Reporting Defects

To report defects, please follow the path:

Login to Student Residence Online System > Defect

For defect which requires immediate attention, please contact the ACCM General Office or the security counter at the North Tower (after office hours).

In Your Room

  • Your washroom will be cleaned according to this Weekly Washroom Cleaning Schedule.
  • Each room is provided garbage bag every month Collection of Garbage Bags.
  • Having difficulties in internet connection at the Halls? Please check out the Best Practice of using the SRH Wi-Fi Services.
  • Please Do Not use any fragrance, mosquito coils, or insect foggers in bedrooms as they will trigger the fire alarm system. Causing fire alarm in a resident's room may lead to disciplinary actions. Use of any device that generates scent, smoke or heat such as aroma diffuser and electric insect repellent is strictly prohibited with the student residence area.

Personal Hygiene and Security

Booking Hall Venues and Facilities

  • Online Booking System is now available for reserving SRH venues and their associated facilities.
  • Some SRH venues are available for residents' use on a first-come first-served basis. Details can be found at the Facilities User Guide.

Payment for Air Conditioning and Laundry Machines

  • You can pay using the Octopus Payment Kiosks installed in the 1/F Laundry Rooms or via mobile payment using the "Student Hostel Payment" feature on the HKBU Mobile App. There are On-campus Venues for Reloading Octopus Cards.

Handling of Parcels / Mails

  • The Student Accommodation Section is not liable for any loss or damage in the mails and parcels delivered to the Student Residence Halls. Residents are responsible to collect the mails and parcels promptly.
