Innovation and Technology Scholarship (創新科技獎學金) 2025 (Deadline: 13 January 2025)
The Innovation and Technology Scholarship aims to recognize outstanding local undergraduates, in any discipline of studies, who are passionate about Innovation and Technology. This scholarship will also provide opportunities to widen the awardee’s international/ Mainland exposure and gain industry experience.
Awardees will be supported to attach to one or more overseas/ Mainland universities/ institutions between 1 June 2025 and 31 July 2026. At least one of the awardee’s trips must be longer than three weeks and at least one trip should be arranged to the Mainland China.
Successful candidates will be awarded with a scholarship up to HK$150,000, comprising the following components*:
- Overseas/ Mainland Attachment Programme
- Mentorship Programme
- Service Project Programme
- Local Internship Programme (optional)
- Ideations and Achievements Showcase (optional)

ELIGIBILITY
- Hong Kong Permanent Resident with the right of abode in Hong Kong;
- Full-time, Non-final year, UGC-funded undergraduate degree students in any discipline of study;
- Preferably a Cumulative GPA (cGPA) of 3.0 or above at the time of application;
- Be well-rounded, have participated in extra-curricular and/or community service activities;
- Be able to display tremendous upside potential and benefit the most from the Scholarship;
- Be willing to serve the community and have a strong commitment to Hong Kong;
- Possessing good communication skills; and
- Have not previously received this Scholarship.
- Achieved a satisfactory result from any one of the English tests below:
TOEFL* (Internet-based test):
Minimum overall score of 90 with scores for individual sections not lower than 21 on reading, 22 on listening, 21 on speaking, and 17 on writing;
IELTS* (Academic Module):
Overall band score of 6.5 or above, with no component scores lower than 6.0;
HKDSE English Language Exam: Level 4 or above;
International Baccalaureate (IB) Exam:
Grade 6 or above on English B Standard Level;
Grade 5 or above on English B High Level;
Grade 5 or above on English A Language and Literature Standard Level;
Grade 5 or above on English A Language and Literature High Level
International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) Exam:
Grade C or above on Cambridge IGCSE English as a Second Language 0511;
Grade D or above on Cambridge IGCSE First Language English 0522;
Grade 6 or Grade B or above on Pearson Edexcel IGCSE English as a Second Language;
Grade 4 or Grade C or above on Pearson Edexcel IGCSE English Language (Specification A or B).
These are irrespective of overseas universities' requirements.

- Having passion and intention to pursue career in innovation and technology fields; and with innovative ideas or engaging in InnoTech research that are align with any of the Scholarship’s “InnoTech Areas”* below:
1. Life and Health Technology
2. Artificial Intelligence and Robotics
3. Advanced Manufacturing
4. Sustainability and Green Technology
5. Business and Financial Technology
6. Multi-disciplinary Technology and Others
Remarks:
- Each candidate should opt for ONE designated “InnoTech Areas” only. Regardless of candidates’ discipline of study, they are welcome to apply for one of the InnoTech Area so long as they have innovative ideas and currently engaging in research in such InnoTech Area, and intending to pursuing career in innovation and technology.
- Candidates currently studying programme(s) under relevant InnoTech Area are eligible to apply under such category.
- Applicants should work out their preferred packages for the Overseas/Mainland Attachment Programme with the assistance of their faculties and academic department.
- A candidate may select “Multi-disciplinary Technology and Others” if his/her InnoTech aspiration does not fall within any of the other five InnoTech Areas.)

Shortlisted candidates will be invited by the Donor for interview in March / April 2025. Details will be sent to nominees through their nominating universities.

- This Scholarship requires open competition with students from other tertiary Institutions. The award for HKBU students is not guaranteed.
