Recruitment of College Tutor
in Village CARE for Residential Year 2026-2027

(Application Deadline: 5 May 2026)

 

The Village CARE is recruiting College Tutors for the Residential Year 2026-2027 for four residential colleges. The themes of each College are: 

College 1 - Community Services Leadership

Lo Siu Tong College – Arts and Culture

College 3 – Sportsmanship and Wellness

College 4 – Purpose-driven Innovation Business and Entrepreneurial Mindset 

 

Eligibility


  • All UGC-funded Research Postgraduate Students who will be continuing their full-time studies for the entire Academic Year 2026-2027 are welcome. 
  • Do NOT apply if you intend to apply for overseas attachment or leave of absence for a semester. Applicant must possess a student status of “Normal Study” as defined by the Graduate School during their appointment period.

 

Important Notes


  • Selected candidates will be invited to attend the interview by late May. The interview results will be released to applicants by mid-June.
  • Successful candidates are required to attend the College Tutor training. College Tutors will begin their engagements in July and August 2026. Most of the engagements and training sessions will be conducted face-to-face in Hong Kong.
  • Successful candidates will be offered a rent-free room of single occupancy. College Tutors may be required to reside in a double room of single occupancy with a shared bathroom to facilitate residents who are wheelchair users residing on the floor. All room allocations will be subject to the arrangement of the College and the Student Accommodation Section.
  • It is expected that the College Tutors shall not be away from Hong Kong for an extended period of time to attend to the needs of residents during the semester.
  • This application may also be reviewed by other colleges for consideration of potential appointment.

 

Duties of College Tutors


Under the supervision of the College Master and College Fellow(s), regular meetings with the College Master and College Fellow(s) for progress updates and consultation are required. College Tutors are expected to assist the College Master and Fellow(s) to perform the following tasks throughout the service period.

1. Role Model and Mentorship

  • To serve as a role model and mentor for residents of their floor, providing guidance on both academic and non-academic matters; and to adhere to the University’s Standard Code of Conduct, the Terms and Conditions of Student Residence, Village CARE Rules and Regulations, and the Residents’ Code;
  • To exemplify integrity and leadership, motivating residents through one's actions and ethos to cultivate a positive community spirit;

2. Residential Education Activities

  • To support and organise residential education activities of their Colleges;
  • To engage residents and facilitate their participation in residential education activities; 

3. Community Building

  • To foster harmonious and inclusive relationships among residents;
  • To foster a sense of belonging to the College and the University among residents;
  • To address and take the lead in resolving minor conflicts and disputes among residents;

4. Floor Management

  • To take care of the well-being and safety of residents;
  • To assist in any administrative tasks assigned by the respective College Master, College Fellow(s) and the Student Accommodation Section;
  • To uphold the University and College rules and regulations to maintain a conducive living environment in the College;

5. College Discipline

  • Diligently report any unusual incidents or behavioural concerns to the College authorities, maintaining the welfare of the residential community;

6. Emergency Handling

  • To assist in emergencies according to the prevailing procedures and protocols, under the guidance of the College Master, College Fellow(s) and/or colleagues from the Student Accommodation Section.
