Recruitment of College Peer Mentors
in Village CARE for Residential Year 2026-2027

 

 

The Village CARE is recruiting College Peer Mentors for the Residential Year 2026-2027 for four residential colleges. The themes of each College are: 

College 1 - Community Services Leadership

Lo Siu Tong College – Arts and Culture

College 3 – Sportsmanship and Wellness

College 4 – Purpose-driven Innovation Business and Entrepreneurial Mindset 

 

Important Notes Before Application


  1. Students may submit ONLY ONE application, choosing EITHER the College Peer Mentor position in Village CARE (VC) OR the Hall Tutor/Non-local Mentor positions in Student Residence Halls (SRH).

  2. The recruitment of Hall Tutors and Non-local Mentors in Student Residence Halls have been announced. The two positions are open to all undergraduates to apply. Please note that the College Peer Mentors in Village CARE and  Non-local Mentors in SRH are 2 different positions. You are strongly advised to carefully consider both options before submitting your application.

  3. Each student can fill in the form ONCE only
    You will NOT be able to amend or re-submit another application once you have completed the application. Make sure all documents are ready before beginning the application. 
    You may consider using the "Save and Continue Later" function if needed. However, only completed applications will be considered after the deadline. 



Eligibility


  • All UGC-funded full-time HKBU Undergraduate Students who will continue their studies for the entire Academic Year 2026-27 with good academic performance are welcome. 

  • Do NOT apply if you intend to apply for exchange or leave of absence (e.g. full-time internship) for a semester.
    Student must possess a student status of “Normal Study” as defined by the Academic Registry at the time of application (except students who are currently on exchange or internship) and during the appointment period. Student who ceases to be classified as “Normal Study” will no longer be eligible for being a College Peer Mentor and will be required to check out of the College.
  • College Peer Mentors will begin their engagements in July and August 2026. Most of the engagements and training sessions will be conducted face-to-face in Hong Kong.



Duties of College Peer Mentors


Under the supervision of the College Master and College Fellow(s), regular meetings with the College Master and College Fellow(s) for progress updates and consultation are required.  College Peer Mentors are expected to assist the College Master and Fellow(s) to perform the following tasks throughout the service period.

1. Role Model and Mentorship

  • To serve as a role model for fellow residents and to adhere to the University’s Standard Code of Conduct, the Terms and Conditions of Student Residence, Village CARE Rules and Regulations, and the Residents’ Code;

 2. Residential Education Activities

  • To encourage students’ involvement and participation in College and university-wide activities for better inclusion in the university community and personal growth;
  • To assist in the implementation of residential education activities;

3. Community Building

  • To foster harmonious and inclusive relationships among residents;
  • To foster a sense of belonging to the College and the University among residents; 

4. Floor Management

  • To assist College Tutors in advising residents, particularly on floor management and student well-being;
  • To uphold the University and Village CARE rules and regulations to maintain a conducive living environment in the Colleges;
  • To assist in any administrative tasks assigned by the respective College Master, College Fellow(s) and colleagues from the Student Accommodation Section;

5. College Discipline

  • Diligently report any unusual incidents or behavioural concerns to the College authorities, maintaining the welfare of the residential community..

Required Documents for Submission


Please prepare ALL of the following documents before you begin your submission:

  • Information of ONE Referee
    The name, position, your relation and email address of ONE referee,  (except College Masters, College Fellows, Resident Tutor, Resident Masters and staff from Student Accommodation Section, SA).

    Seek the consent of the referee in advance. Individual Colleges may approach your nominated referee, without further seeking your confirmation, anytime during the selection process.

  • Your CV (in pdf format)
    Your resume should be able to highlight your skills matching with the roles and duties of College Peer Mentor The application form will only accept files in pdf format.
