Sharing of Scholarship Recipients - NG Hing Pan

1

NG Hing Pan;
Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Chemistry

I am sincerely honoured to have been selected as one of the recipients of the HKBU Alumni Gratitude Scholarship. The scholarship is a solid recognition of my effort and academic achievements during my undergraduate study, motivating me to continue on my journey towards becoming a researcher in the field of Biochemistry. Although I have not yet used the scholarship, I plan to use it for my future study in Europe.

As a science student, I am fond of nature and am curious about the principles behind natural phenomena. In my university years, I have spent every summer in the research laboratory at the Department of Chemistry, Hong Kong Baptist University. These experiences have not only given me a broader understanding of how scientific knowledge can be applied to solve real-life problems, but have also intensified my interest in conducting scientific research. I aspire to become a researcher in the field of Biochemistry, who unravels the mysteries of life and revolutionizes people’s lives by the discovery of new knowledge. Despite the fact that several universities in Hong Kong have offered postgraduate programs in Biochemistry, very few professors here have expertise in protein engineering. These motivate me to pursue further education abroad after graduating from the university.

In recognition of my academic performance, I have been admitted to a Master’s program in Biochemistry provided by an internationally renowned university in Europe. I strongly believe that the resources and training I will be exposed to during my postgraduate study will further my knowledge in the researcher area and enable me to realize my long-cherished ambition of becoming a researcher in Biochemistry. Besides, studying at a prestigious university in Europe would help me to build up an international connection with researchers in the same field of study. That could be beneficial for my research career in the future. Although it is my fortune to receive another scholarship that will cover my tuitional fee during my postgraduate study, the living expense in Europe is costly and is still an issue that has been bothering me. Being awarded the scholarship would lighten my financial burden, allowing me to focus more on the most important aspect of school and learning. I will carefully use the scholarship to finance my future study in Europe.

I would end this article by expressing my gratitude for receiving HKBU Alumni Gratitude Scholarship. This scholarship affirms my effort, inspiring me to strive for success and excellence.
