All MAP participants must join the COPS Test Interpretation Session to understand more about your career interests and potential. After the MAP application deadline, applicants will receive an email notifying them the test arrangements. Please note:

  • Applicants will be asked to complete the Test during 23 - 25 Oct 2024
  • Applicants please expect to attend one of the COPS Test Interpretation Sessions below:

Programme Deposit
    • Includes a non-refundable administrative fee to cover costs on employer liaison, publicity, etc.;
    • Includes a refundable part after deducting the administrative fee, which is applicable if the participant completes the internship, fulfills pre- and post-trip formalities (including but not limited to submitting surveys, reports and photos), and receives no complaints from the employer and the Programme Coordinators of the Career Centre; 
    • Does not include visa and related fees, airfare, accommodation (except Nanjing in which accommodation will be arranged by the Career Centre), local transportation, meals and living expenses; AND
    • Is non-transferrable from person to person.

    Eligibility
    • Minimum cGPA requirement as at 2024/25 1st semester: 2.3 (for Year 1 students) or 2.0 (for other students).
    • Students who will have an exchange / a study programme outside HK in 2024/25 2nd semester are NOT eligible to apply, , except for Taipei Group 2.
    • Students who are on inbound exchange at HKBU are NOT eligible to apply.

     

    Internship
    • After confirming your participation, Programme Coordinators will work on internship matching from March to May 2025.
    • Factors affecting your internship matching result include but do not limit to:
      • Your preferences;
      • Availability of positions;
      • Requirements set by the governments of different countries; AND
      • Employers' final decisions.
    • Students are welcome to state your career interests, but there is NO GUARANTEE the internship matches your study major or preference.
    • NO SALARY AND ALLOWANCE SHOULD BE EXPECTED.

     

    Visa and Related Fees
    • The visa and related fees listed on this website are according to the Consulates General / Economic and Cultural Offices / Ministries of Manpower of individual cities as of Sep 2024. Fees converted into HK$, if any, are subject to change in exchange rates.
    • Please be aware that visa fees / policies / conditions are subject to changes made by the Consulates General / Economic and Cultural Offices / Ministries of Manpower at different times of the year without prior notice, which might result in additional fees.

     

    Air Tickets and Accommodation
    • Participants should arrange and purchase air tickets and accommodation on their own. For Nanjing, accommodation will be arranged by the Career Centre for participants.
    • Participants should make their own choices based on personal budgets and requirements.
    • Participants may seek advice from their Programme Coordinators regarding accommodation arrangements.

     

    Overall Programme Arrangements
    • All arrangements are based on the current socio-economic and political conditions of the destinations and Hong Kong, and are therefore tentative. Participants should be flexible and anticipate possible changes.

    Matching Sponsorships Scheme (MSS)

    Faculties and Schools will be invited to grant sponsorships. The selection criteria are decided by individual Facilities and Schools.

    Eligibility

    • Only for full-time UGC-funded undergraduates who are admitted to the programme and pay the programme deposit by 26 Nov 2024.
    • Under the co-sponsored stream, if they receive sponsorships from their Faculties and Schools, the Office of Student Affairs will top up the same amount. The total amount is fixed depending on the destination category.
    • If Faculties and Schools opt for the solely-sponsored stream, the Office of Student Affairs will not top up any sponsorships.

    How to apply

    • BBA students MUST apply for the Global Experience Support Scheme to kick-start the MSS mechanism. 
    • Other students need not apply by themselves. The Career Centre will send the list of successful MAP participants to respective Faculties and Schools for their consideration. 

    Departmental Sponsorship for Full-time Non-UGC-funded Undergraduates

    • As full-time non-UGC-funded undergraduates are not eligible for MSS, the Career Centre will send the list of successful MAP participants to respective Faculties and Schools to solicit departmental sponsorships. Faculties and Schools may only opt for the solely-sponsored stream if they wish to grant sponsorships. The Office of Student Affairs will not top up any sponsorships.

     

    Student Sponsorships Scheme (SSS)

    Eligibility

    • Only for full-time UGC-funded undergraduates who are admitted to the programme, pay the programme deposit by 26 Nov 2024, and do not receive any sponsorship from the Matching Sponsorships Scheme (MSS) or their Faculties / Schools.

    How to apply

    • The application details are expected to be sent to all eligible students in June / July 2025, subject to funding availability.

    Selection criteria

    The sponsorship amounts are fixed depending on the destination categories. The allocation of sponsorship will depend on, but will not be limited to the profiles of applicants, such as:

    • Awards received (e.g., sports / academic / non-academic awards recognised internationally / nationally / in Hong Kong / by HKBU internally / etc.);
    • Achievements in co- and extra-curricular activities;
    • Academic result; and
    • Financial hardship (if applicable).

    IMPORTANT REMARKS ON MSS AND SSS
    • The sponsorship amounts depend on the approved budget of the funding sources. The level of competition among applicants varies every year. The sponsorships are therefore NOT guaranteed.
    • As the expenses for overseas internships could be very high, please carefully estimate your financial budget without expecting any sponsorship.
    • Tentatively the sponsorships are to be reimbursed in Jan 2026 the earliest, if the recipient completes the internship, fulfills pre- and post-trip formalities (including but not limited to submitting surveys, reports and photos), and receives no complaints from the employer and the Programme Coordinators of the Career Centre. 
    • Funding sources and the Career Centre reserve all the rights of final decision on the sponsorship matters.
