FUNG Nga Man, Presley (Business Administration - Human Resources Management)
Intern at Orange Intelligence
My internship company is Orange Intelligence and my major duty during my internship is translation. They have opened a Fertility Clinic and they are going to open a new one in Korea. Both clinics need an English translation version for their websites because they would like to let more foreigners know about their clinic so that foreigners can also make reservations for the treatments. I think translation work is important for the company to connect to the global market.
It is well-known that there is a strict workplace culture in Korea, which has a clear and tight class concept. Subordinates are always scared of their superiors. In this internship, I found a very free and comfortable environment and relationship in our company. They never force someone to do something difficult. The colleagues were very nice and kind. The supervisor always brought us to have lunch together. Because of that, I think the atmosphere in a company is important. It affects employees’ work performance and sense of belonging.
LO Ka Hei, Kerry (Business Administration - Human Resources Management)
Intern at Etourism
I learned a lot of practical marketing techniques and improved my communication skills during the internship. One of the memorable parts is to promote the Authentic Korea Programme to the French market, our internship team searched for the French’s tour operators and sent email and made phone calls to them. These experiences allowed me to explore more about the oversea market and observe different marketing strategies from my colleagues. I gain a lot of emotional support and guidance from my superiors and colleagues. They always give me suggestions when I face difficulties which encourage me to try my best in my work. This once-in-a-life time experience not only can enrich my life, but also allows me to apply theoretical knowledge during the internship.
CHENG Suet Ying, Suki (Communication - Public Relations and Advertising)
Intern at Kpop Planet
My major duty is to generate online K-pop-related content. As a company that focuses on K-pop products, online content can help generate sales and attract more followers and the target audience, including IG reels and blogs. Developing engaging, informative, and visually appealing content is crucial for driving sales, increasing brand awareness, and attracting the passionate K-pop fan base. Besides, if there are new product launches, I also need to upload it and tell fans that the products are now available on our company website. It all affects the sales and daily operation of my host company. My ability to effectively communicate product information and generate excitement among the target audience can significantly contribute to the company's growth and profitability.
TSANG Ka Wing, Karmen (Social Sciences - Sociology)
Intern at Wonderful
This marketing internship has expanded my professional network and provided invaluable insights into South Korea's socio-cultural landscape and work culture. I have built connections with colleagues, supervisors and also learnt many technical skills of marketing from them. Understanding South Korea's rapid technological adoption, efforts towards work-life balance, and globalization initiatives has broadened my career perspectives. Additionally, experiencing the hierarchical structures, emphasis on teamwork, and strong work ethic in Korean companies has shaped my preferences for a supportive yet dedicated work environment. These networking opportunities and cultural insights will undoubtedly influence my career planning and decision-making processes moving forward in the self development in Hong Kong.
