Vicky TANG, Applied Biology (intern in Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Japan)
The first skill I learnt during the internship is my communication skills. I used to be a passive and shy person before. However, during the internship, I always tried to speak up with different Japanese colleagues because I wanted to improve my Japanese speaking skills. This would be important for my future career as it allows me to build up a better relationship between me, my colleagues and my superior. Through communication, I would also be able to broaden my horizons by exchanging information with others. The second skill was adaptability. It was the first time for me living in a foreign country for such a long time by myself, which was a brand-new experience for me. This internship increased my adaptability in a foreign environment, which is important for me to adapt to a new working environment as soon as possible in the future.
