Every writer wants to create a deep, emotional connection with their reader. How do the best writers achieve that goal? They use a technique known as deep point-of-view. Writing in deep point-of-view (POV) allows writers to succinctly show the emotions their character is feeling, without telling the reader what these feelings are. In this talk, Professor Ahrens will explain this concept and share her method for writing in deep POV. She will also provide multiple examples from recently published novels. Writers should bring their own creative work and be prepared to do short writing exercises so that they can incorporate this technique into their own writing.
