Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. In 2001, the General Assembly by unanimous vote adopted resolution 55/282, which established 21 September as an annual day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.
This year's theme for the UN International Day of Peace, 'Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All', honours the spirit of togetherness. With a focus on refugees and the displaced, and also all vulnerable communities in our society, we hope to foster meaningful connections with the disadvantaged and marginalised.
