Prospective employers within the campus are required to submit employee records in respect of every non-local student in their employ;
Maintain the employee records for inspection by the Immigration Department upon request;
The employee record should include:
(a) Personal particulars of non-local student, such as bio-data and Hong Kong identity card number;
(b) Study programme of the student;
(c) Name of employer; and
(d) Nature of employment and number of hours worked (logged daily);
Report to Immigration Department as soon as practicable if any non-local student is found to have worked more than 20 hours in a week; and
Keep the employee records for a duration of five years (counting from the first academic year).

Non-local students of full-time locally-accredited programmes at degree level or above (exclusive of foundation year) whose study period is not less than one academic year (excluding exchange students) are allowed to take up employment during the summer months (1 June – 31 August, both days inclusive) without any limit in relation to work hours and location within their study period.
Non-local students of full-time locally-accredited programmes at degree level or above (exclusive of foundation year) whose study period is not less than one academic year (excluding exchange students) are allowed to take up part-time on campus employment for not more than 20 hours per week throughout the year.
The employment must take place within the campus of the university (including only the campus of the university which the non-local student is enrolling, and excluding the campus of any subsidiary and associated body of the relevant university proper or its self-financing arms) where the non-local student is studying or, if the work location is outside campus of the university, the employer is the university itself.
Students will not be allowed to roll-over unused hours from one week to another; a week refers to a period of seven days from Sunday to Saturday.
