Terms of Reference

1. To report or make recommendations to the Senate on policies and regulations relating to student organizations, activities, discipline, amenities, services, residential life, scholarships, bursaries and loans.
2. To endorse, steer and oversee co-curricular and other student development activities to create an environment conducive to students’ whole-person development, including the U-Life Programme, as well as Residential Education programmes proposed by the Student Residence Governance Committee (SRGC).
3. To approve the terms of reference and appointment of members to the sub-committees under the SRGC.
4. To consider and recommend the annual budget of the student residences submitted by the SRGC for the Council’s approval via the Finance Committee, and to receive financial reports submitted by the SRGC.
5. To endorse major improvements and repairs / renovation works proposed by the SRGC for the consideration and approval of the relevant committees.
6. To receive reports from the Office of Student Affairs and approve matters relating to student affairs as recommended by the Director of Student Affairs.
7. To oversee and implement the Student Disciplinary Procedures including the appointment of panels in accordance with the policies and guidelines approved by the Senate, and to report relevant decisions to the Senate as appropriate.
8. To receive reports on matters related to scholarships, bursaries and loans.
9. To submit an annual report to the Senate.
