What is SEN?

Special educational needs (SEN) refer to the the learning needs of students arising from disabilities or learning difficulties. Students have special educational needs if they have significantly greater difficulty in learning than the majority of students. At HKBU, we offer appropriate provision to students who encounter temporary or permanent significant impairments, disabilities and/or difficulty in learning and university adjustment. There are generally nine types of SEN that you can learn more about. If you suspect that your or your students' learning difficulties are related to an undiagnosed disability, we encourage you to reach out to us. We will explore your concerns and connect you to assessment services if needed.
