It is my pleasure to receive the HKBU Alumni Gratitude Scholarship. This scholarship means a lot to me; not only does it relieve my financial difficulties, but it also motivates me to keep working hard and doing my best in the future.

With the support of the scholarship, I am able to purchase a computer for my studies. Throughout this year, I mainly used my iPad for  my studies. It was inconvenient, especially when completing assignments. Typing was not as comfortable, and it was also difficult to manage multiple pages at the same time. With the computer I bought with the scholarship, I can enjoy studying in a more convenient and efficient way, and I feel more prepared to handle my academic workload.

As a Year 1 freshman, I rebuilt the University Women’s Squash Team. It was a challenging experience because everything started from zero. There were many procedures to handle, and I had to manage the team. Luckily, I met many supportive people throughout this journey. They taught me how to complete the administrative work step-by-step. With our teamwork and perseverance, our team won a medal at the USFHK competition. For a team that only started this year, achieving a medal-worthy placing is already a huge achievement, and it proves that our hard work truly mattered.

Beyond sports, I am also dedicated to community service, drama performances and academic development. Through these experiences, I learned to value people with different talents and to understand others’ challenges. Working with different groups, I realised that everyone is different and we should embrace individual differences rather than treating everyone the same.

Currently, I am still exploring my future aspirations. However, I am clear about two goals. I am passionate about helping other SEN students. I hope to use my own story to encourage them that challenges can be overcome with perseverance. I also want to promote a sports community and organize sports events for people to participate in and connect with each other. I will continue to do my best and contribute to the HKBU community and the wider society which give me much inspiration and support.
