CHOY Yuen Tung, Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Physical Education and Recreation Management
I am delighted to share the progress in my educational achievement, significantly propelled by the scholarship that has been a cornerstone of my development. This scholarship has not only financed my participation in an overseas service trip but also facilitated my enrolment in a specialized physical education (PE) qualification course, both of which have been pivotal in shaping my future aspirations.
The overseas service trip was an eye-opener, exposing me to diverse athletic cultures and educational systems. I engaged with local communities, assisting in organizing sports events that fostered inclusivity and teamwork. This hands-on experience was invaluable, teaching me the universal language of sports and its power to unite people from various backgrounds.
Simultaneously, the scholarship enabled me to pursue a qualification course in physical education. The course equipped me with advanced teaching methodologies, a deeper understanding of sports science, and the latest trends in health and fitness education. The outcome was a comprehensive knowledge base that I am eager to apply in a classroom setting.
However, the journey was not without its challenges. Language barriers during the service trip occasionally hindered communication. I realized the importance of not just verbal language but also non-verbal cues and the universal language of sports in fostering connections. Additionally, balancing the intensive coursework with the trip's demands required meticulous time management and adaptability—skills I plan to further refine.
The impact of these experiences on my further education and future planning is profound. As I progress towards becoming a PE teacher, I am equipped not only with academic knowledge but also with practical, real-world experience that will inform my teaching practices. The scholarship has not only supported my studies but has also been an investment in my vision of fostering holistic development through many extracurricular activities.
Looking ahead, I am eager to apply the global perspectives and innovative approaches acquired through these opportunities. My goal is to create an inclusive, dynamic learning environment that encourages students to embrace physical education as a vital component of their overall well-being. Thanks to the scholarship, I am one step closer to realizing this goal and making a meaningful impact as a PE teacher.
