Office of Student Affairs

The Office of Student Affairs (SA) aims to facilitate students’ development of whole person and cultivate a caring, respectful and stimulating learning environment on campus. SA provides quality services and co-curricular programmes, including leadership training, counselling and mental health enhancement, career advising and preparation, accommodation services, student organization support and campus facilities provision such as student lockers, clinic and learning commons, etc. There are different sections under SA to support students in different areas.

Counselling and Development Centre

The Counselling and Development Centre is dedicated to offering professional counselling services which help students to explore and understand themselves better, so that they can become more self-directing and self-actualizing individuals. Psychological counsellors can work with students on issues including study problems, university life adjustment, emotion management, psychological competence and interpersonal relationships, etc.

Mainland Student Services Unit

The Mainland Student Services Unit, which is under the Counselling and Development Centre of Office of Student Affairs, is established to support all Mainland students in HKBU. The unit aims at facilitating Mainland students to adapt to the life in Hong Kong, understand the local culture and assimilate into HKBU and Hong Kong society. The unit provides mentoring services and a wide range of activities like orientation programmes, workshops and seminars, cultural visits, community services and cultural tours. On top of facilitating Mainland students’ adaptation and enhancing their understanding in Hong Kong culture, some of the programmes also provide a platform for cultural exchange between local and Mainland students.
