International Writers' Workshop: 2026 Literary Festival - Translation Workshop: What Do We Transalte When We Translate

In this generative translation workshop, we will test the limit of translation by translating into English, individually and collectively, the sounds and words as well as a Chinese version (for those who know the language) of a literary text in a language most of us don’t understand. By comparing our versions to existing or canonical translations, we may be able to get close to what makes a translation.
