Nurturing Global Citizenship through English (NGCE) is an English for Specific Purposes (ESP) project that puts language learning and practice in the context of global themes including environment, intercultural communication, media and technology. With the NGCE as a framework for learning and the belief that young people can all make a difference, through moduled collaborative online learning activities under different themes, objectives and topics suggested by UNESCO, the project aims to empower students to embrace their social responsibility to act for the benefit of all societies while developing their knowledge and language skills and values they need to engage with the world.
Students will engage in online sessions of induction to key concepts of global citizenship, discussions of realities in different context, and activities of making changes as an individual and a member of the community.
The module on Marginalization in Educational Access is designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the issues related to racial and gender discrimination, economic deprivation, and social exclusion when people are denied access to education. By exploring the challenges faced by language minority students in Hong Kong, and probing gender-based marginalization in India and Pakistan, you will gain a deeper understanding of the structural inequalities that perpetuate marginalization.
