Artist Talk: Peng Wei

The Academy of Visual Arts, School of Creative Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University is once again honored to be a cultural partner of Art Basel Hong Kong 2024. In addition to having a representative booth at Art Basel in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from March 28 to 30, 2024, we are delighted to present an Art Basel parallel exhibition entitled "Ink Subversion: Through Gender Lenses" at our Kai Tak Campus. As a highlight of the exhibition, we are pleased to announce that the renowned artist Peng Wei will be giving an artist talk, sharing her experiences in the realm of ink art and her unique perspective on gender and art. This talk will be a captivating side event that shouldn't be missed and promise to offer an inspiring and enlightening experience for all art enthusiasts and visitors.

Peng Wei is a Chinese artist known for her contemporary artworks that blend ink and classical imagery. With a background in Chinese painting and philosophy, she creatively reinterprets themes like clothing, fans, and scrolls, infusing humor and affection into her works. Peng Wei's art has been exhibited at renowned venues such as the Venice Biennale and Art Basel Hong Kong, and is sought after by museums and private collectors worldwide.
