The Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund Council will again offer scholarships to local UGC-funded full-time undergraduates studying in tertiary institutions in Hong Kong.

The SEYM Undergraduate Scholarship 尤德爵士紀念基金本科生獎學金 valued at HK$40,000 each. There will be SIX awards in Hong Kong in 2026/27, and HKBU is requested to submit ONE nomination.

  1. Read the “Information Note B” HERE for the eligibility and selection criteria,
  2. Complete the application form ("B1" nomination form) HERE, together with the following supporting documents, by noon of Thursday, 17 September. 

Kindly submit ONE pdf file via email to scholarship@hkbu.edu.hk by the deadline.

Below are the required supporting documents:

(1) HKID card copy,
(2) HKBU academic transcript (the non-official one is acceptable),
(3) HKBU non-academic transcript (full version from SLES*),
(4) HKDSE/SAT/IB public exam results slips,
(5) Scholarship or awards certificates,
(6) The self-statement article (max. 500 words in English, topic: Reasons for your current course of studies) and
(7) A recommendation letter written by an academic staff or advisor from your Faculty or Department.
(8) Other supporting documents as deemed appropriate.

*If your extracurricular activities or community service are not recorded in SLES, please provide certificates or letters issued by the respective organizations as supporting documents.

Please take immediate action on (6) recommendation letter, as it often takes considerable time for your professor or academic advisor to prepare the recommendation letter. Kindly ensure that the letter includes your full name, the professor’s signature and is printed on official HKBU letterhead.

The form is fillable electronically, so please do not submit a handwritten version.

Please leave the "Declaration" part (i.e., the last page) blank. Our Director of Student Affairs will sign it later if selected.

Successfully applicants will not be required to relinquish fellowships, scholarships or bursaries held in 2026/27, if being selected for this SEYM Scholarship.

The nominee will be invited to attend a face-to-face internal selection interview at HKBU campus in early October, and, if shortlisted by the Donor, a final interview in-person at the Donor’s office in late November or early December 2026. Applicants should ensure that he or she will be in Hong Kong during Semester 1 of 2026/27, e.g. not participating in an exchange programme outside Hong Kong.
