[ISA 2025-2026] YIM Chor Wing, Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons.)

As the Inclusion Student Ambassador (ISA) 2025/26 of HKBU, I am glad to have the opportunity to prepare and host one of the “SENse it” booths in mid-November 2025. By hosting the lip-reading game, I was able to recognize how difficult it is for hearing-impaired individuals to engage in daily conversations. As a result, this hosting experience not only fosters my leadership skills in launching games but also raises my awareness of everyday interactions with people around us.

Besides, I am honored to join the barrier-free cultural tour (Kuala Lumpur) with other ISAs, mental health first-aid captains, and students with SEN. At first, I was uncertain about how to chat with some of them since they were relatively shy and tended to keep to themselves. Yet, I found them friendly and kind after getting to know them during the 5-day trip. Therefore, this precious travelling journey totally changed my point of view towards people with SEN. In fact, they aren’t different, just that they require more patience and listening in communications.

Some of you may think that being an ISA is time-consuming and tiring because we need to help with many event-hosting without being paid. For me, I have never regretted participating in this programme, as it offers me tons of opportunities to contribute to the HKBU community, while deepening my understanding of SEN and serving the needs. I will never forget the memories we have created together during this year, and I wish to continue engaging in this programme in the future for further exploration.
