Since 1998, the Career Centre has been connecting internship hosts / external internship organisers and HKBU students, with the aim to enhance global partnerships and groom talents across industries and regions outside Hong Kong.

Role of the Internship Host / Organiser
- Provide internship opportunities and inform the Career Centre the recruitment result.
- Discuss and reach consensus on the commencement date and internship period with the Career Centre / the student depending on the type of the internship programme.
- Supervise the student, provide a reasonably safe working environment, and avoid irregular working hours and overtime work if possible.
- Provide necessary documents for the student’s internship-related visa application.
- Offer nominal monetary allowance, and/or in-kind support, such as provision of accommodation, meals, etc. Some of our programmes also welcome non-paid internship opportunities.
- Complete an Internship Evaluation on the student’s performance.
- Provide proof of internship completion to the student, if appropriate.
Role of the Career Centre
- Publicise the internship opportunities.
- Handle enquiries from relevant parties.
- Conduct preliminary screening if applicable.
- Brief participants on business ethics and confidentiality.
- Advise students to handle the logistics in connection with the internship, such as internship confirmation, visa application, accommodation, etc.
- (If travel insurance is not arranged by the internship host / organiser) Arrange the travel insurance provided by the University, and/or offer advice to students if they prefer to purchase their own insurance.
- Collect feedback from internship hosts and students for continuous improvement.
Role of the Student Intern
- Perform assigned duties under supervision.
- Behave as part of the regular workforce and follow the regulation of the internship host.
- Arrange logistics in connection with the internship.
- Complete a reflective survey after the internship.
