The 7th cohort of Startup Saturday organized by Career Centre was successfully held, bringing together alumni and students to exchange ideas and explore entrepreneurial opportunities. Thanks to the support from HKBU Alumni Association, the event welcomed over 30 students, alumni and colleagues, to support the final presentations.

We sincerely appreciate our alumni continued commitment to nurturing the University’s start‑up ecosystem.

Seven shortlisted teams presented their projects before a panel of distinguished judges. We were grateful to the judges for their professional insights, constructive feedback, and valuable guidance:

Following the pitching session, seed fund and incubation support were awarded to four teams in recognition of their innovation potential and project readiness.

Seed Fund Awardees

  • Operasy - A mobile Cantonese opera initiative that delivers interactive, technology‑enhanced performances to primary schools, promoting intangible cultural heritage in an engaging and accessible format for young learners.
  • ULinks - An integrated social and service platform for Hong Kong university students, designed to bridge cultural and language barriers while addressing daily campus needs through digital solutions.
  • SwingAI - An AI‑powered media platform that transforms news consumption into a personalised, goal‑driven experience, enabling users to convert information into actionable insights.
  • Joylink Board Game - A board game project that promotes interaction, collaboration, and meaningful social connection through structured and engaging gameplay.

Start-up Saturday is a campus-wide competition designed for HKBU students, providing a platform for them to develop innovative ideas and pitch for seed funding to transform their concepts into viable businesses. Winning teams will receive seed funding and a one-year incubation support at StarHub, the co-working space designated for HKBU students.
