The Career Centre from the Office of Student Affairs proudly hosted the Grand Opening and Recognition Ceremony of the StarHub – Career Support and Incubation Hub on 26 November 2025.
StarHub is the University’s first dedicated on-campus start-up and career support hub for all students. Designed to support the diverse development needs of aspiring entrepreneurs and students, StarHub offers a physical co-creation space that fosters creativity, collaboration, product and prototype showcase, and connections with industry leaders. It aims at nurturing HKBU ventures that make a positive impact on society. The Hub also provides career support for students with special needs, and builds a platform for students to broaden their exposure, receive business referrals, and explore new opportunities.
To bolster this vision, thirteen distinguished advisors from diverse industries have joined to provide voluntary business and career consultations. Their guidance will be instrumental in helping students navigate both the entrepreneurial landscape and broader career pathways.
A key highlight of the ceremony was the announcement of a generous HK$3.6 million donation from the Koo’s Giving Charitable Foundation, whose trust and heartfelt support play a transformative role at HKBU. This donation has empowered the Career Centre to launch the Empowerment and Career Preparation Program for HKBU Students with Special Educational Needs Through this initiative, the Career Centre at StarHub will offer tailored career advice, customized internship matching, and graduate opportunities that align with the individual talents and career ambitions of SEN students, providing crucial support for their smooth transition from academia to meaningful careers.
A donor recognition ceremony was hosted on the same day, at which HKBU expressed its deepest gratitude to the Koo’s Giving Charitable Foundation for its steadfast commitment to advancing inclusive career support and empowering students at the University.
The opening of StarHub signifies a substantial milestone in HKBU’s enduring commitment to nurturing student innovation, entrepreneurship, and career readiness. By fostering a vibrant ecosystem of support and opportunity, HKBU continues to empower all students to pursue their ambitions and achieve success in their professional and entrepreneurial journeys.
