Witness a groundbreaking exhibition where art and economics collide! Over 250 students from the Visual Arts and Business schools collaborated on an unprecedented transdisciplinary dialogue, exploring values beyond traditional economic indicators like GDP.
Seven interactive installations created by visual arts students will guide you to explore social and existential values. Meanwhile, business students have created over 60 works offering profound reflections on significant issues such as happiness, community well-being, social connection, prosperity and environmental sustainability, presented through various artistic and analytical formats including videos, photographs, songs, drawings and infographics. Selected works will be showcased in this exhibition.
We invite you to cross disciplinary boundaries and step into a new dimension of intellectual exploration, where values beyond numerical definition await discovery!
[Pre-Exhibition Workshop]
Four pre-exhibition workshops were organised for business students to help them understand macroeconomics and traditional economic measures by integrating artistic expression.
1. Videography
This workshop focuses on the art of vlogging — not for fame, but for self-discovery. Participants will learn to capture authentic moments and express their thoughts on camera, enabling them to reflect on their lives, explore their creativity, and cultivate a storytelling habit that deepens their understanding of themselves and their personal growth.
Date: 20 Feb 2025 (Thu) & 11 Mar 2025 (Tue)
Facilitator: Mr. Ethan Wang
2. Songwriting
Discover the power of music to explore bliss and happiness! This workshop provides a dynamic framework for songwriting, allowing you to express these emotions and delve into their deeper meaning within the context of our communities.
Date: 24 Feb 2025 (Mon) & 3 Mar 2025 (Mon)
Facilitator: Mr. Emerald Lee, Mr. Joseph Ho
3. Photography
These two lessons aim to bridge the worlds of economics and visual storytelling. Students will learn how contemporary photography—particularly using mobile devices—can capture and communicate complex macroeconomic ideas such as GDP. By the end of the second lesson, students will develop a unique visual voice that translates economic concepts into personal narratives.
Date: 27 Feb 2025 (Thu) & 4 Mar 2025 (Tue)
Facilitator: Mr. Jimmy Lee
4. Drawing
Central to this workshop is the idea of using drawing as an artistic tool to develop a holistic understanding of our world. This workshop encourages students to develop their unique perspectives and sensitivity towards social and/or environmental issues through the artistic medium of drawing. Students are introduced to various professional artists who intervene or comment on issues greater than themselves. Two in-class exercises will prepare students for the final group project where the group will comment on or intervene in a social/environmental issue close to their hearts.
Date: 4 Mar 2025 (Tue) & 18 Mar 2025 (Tue)
Facilitator: Ms. Michelle Fung
