[About the Speaker]

Miss Rikki Choy 蔡瑞琦小姐 
Film Director

Born in Hong Kong and raised in a multicultural environment, Rikki Choy approaches non-fiction filmmaking through a nuanced intercultural lens. 

Her creative practice focuses on humanistic narratives, social dynamics, environmental conservation, and historical memory. Her works have been official selections at major international film festivals, including the Munich International Documentary Festival, the Singapore International Film Festival, and the Hong Kong International Film Festival. She has also won Silver Awards at both the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards and the Telly Awards, among other international honors.

Mr. Ethan Wang 王藝澄先生
Independent Filmmaker

Ethan Wang is a storyteller who bridges literature and cinema to uncover authentic human narratives. With a bachelor’s degree in English literature and an MFA in Film, he applies literary structure and character insight to craft emotionally resonant visual stories. He has directed a series of documentary shorts and three independent features.

As the founder of an emerging filmmaking studio in Hong Kong, his work is driven by cinematic aesthetics and a passion for diverse cultures. Beyond his productions, he empowers students across disciplines to use smartphones and generative AI to capture the extraordinary in the everyday, helping them feel, experience, and capture the world in profoundly new ways.

It's never too late to snap out of an urban routine and immerse oneself in the natural world, as filmmaker Rikki Choy shows in her portrait of Hongkongers who've done just that. A cultural worker turned farmer extols the healing power of nature, a sea-diving model tackles marine pollution, a wildlife buff practices ‘wellness photography’, and a real estate agent channels his love of birds into paintings. Choy's subjects all highlight the city's gorgeous yet often ignored biodiversity and sends out the call to respect its riches in this illuminating and inspiring portrait of those who dare to live outside of the rat race and do their share.
