"Sip, Snap, Stroll in Yunnan" invites you to deepen your understanding and brew new perspectives on Yunnan’s unique heritage, geography, and ethnic traditions through:
- Academic exchange focused on cultural sustainability and socio-economic impact
- Site visits to explore Yunnan’s rich coffee and tea culture, related economic developments, as well as Kunming’s heritage and tourism sites.
What will you Experience?
- Journey to Kunming to immerse yourself in Yunnan’s culture and history by visiting tea plantations, coffee farms, museum and Dianchi Lake.
- Participate in joint university activities featuring cultural exchange and dialogues on eco‑tourism and forest resources.
- Learn the essential tea and coffee knowledge and fundamental video production techniques for documentation.
- Create a short video and write reflections supplemented with photos to synthesize your insights and showcase your cultural observation.
- Share your work and exchange insights with HKBU community in a post-trip exhibition.

Notes to Applicants
1. Only UGC-funded students are eligible.
2. Successful applicants will be notified shortly after the screening interview.
3. To indicate acceptance of the offer, the deposit must be settled before the given deadline.
4. Successful applicants must fulfill the travel requirements (if any) of the host country and bear their own visa application cost (if applicable).
Eligibility Criteria of Grassroots Youth Applicants:
Applicants will be considered as grassroots youth if they meet any of the following criteria:
- Currently receiving Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA 綜援); or
- Receiving full grant under the “School Textbook Assistance Scheme 學校書簿津貼計劃” or full tuition assistance under means-tested schemes administered by the Working Family and Student Financial Assistance Agency (學生資助處全額資助).
Deposit Refund Requirements
The deposit will be refunded via bank transfer only after ALL of the following requirements are fulfilled:
- Attend all the trainings, trip, and post-trip activities.
- Be punctual for all trainings, trip, and post‑trip activities.
- To request an excused absence, submit official documentation prior to the activity. Acceptable documentation includes professor’s confirmation email for academic obligations or a doctor’s note for medical reasons.
- Complete all the following:
(i) a group video of 1 to 2 minutes
(ii) an individual reflection note of at least 200 words with photos, and
(iii) the post-event surveys.
* Co-Curricular Learning (CCL) recognised only upon fulfilling all items under “Deposit Refund Requirements”.
