Explore the vibrant daily life of Bianjing during the Northern Song Dynasty as depicted in the masterpiece Along the River During the Qingming Festival. While strolling through four unique neighborhoods in Kwun Tong, you will draw inspiration from the narrative techniques of this scroll painting to capture your surroundings through photography. Together, we will create a beautiful scroll that reflects our local cultural essence.

  • Ferry Ride Experience: Immerse yourself in the significance of water transportation in the city's economy during the Northern Song Dynasty with a scenic ferry ride.
  • Expert Insights: Join our instructors as they reveal lesser-known stories behind the scroll painting, providing a comprehensive understanding of the social environment of the Northern Song Dynasty.
  • Community Walk: Rediscover Kwun Tong through a community walk, capturing the neighborhoods from your unique perspective through photography.
  • Collaborative Art Project: Use the printed photos you captured to create a collage on a two-meter-long scroll.


[About the Instructors]

Ms. Amanda Sun

Founder of AFG, Amanda champions the arts as an important common ground for fostering a diverse and inclusive society. She has strategically directed AFG and created numerous cutting-edge projects with various collaborators since she founded AFG. Amanda holds a master's degree in recreation and leisure policy and planning, and a bachelor's degree in business administration.


Ms. Katrina Mo

Co-director of AFG, Katrina is a passionate artist specializing in Chinese calligraphy and painting, with over 15 years of marketing experience in Hong Kong. She has extensive experience advocating for Chinese culture and life-relevancy art appreciation and storytelling.

09:30   Meet up at North Point MTR Station Exit A1. Walk to North Point Pier.

10:00   Ferry Ride by North Point to Kwun Tong

            *Ferry departs at 10:00 a.m., the next one is 11:00 a.m.

10:30   Arrive VESSEL, Kwun Tong

            Project briefing & Introduction of Along the River During the Qingming Festival

12:00   Community Walk in Kwun Tong: take photos and have lunch

15:30   Collaborative Art Project: use your photos to create a collage on a two-meter-long scroll.

17:30   Group Presentation, Q&A

18:00   Dismiss

[Important Notes]

1. Meeting Point: Please gather at North Point MTR Station Exit A1 at 09:30 a.m. Latecomers have to make their own way to Kwun Tong VESSEL by 10:30 a.m.

2. Preparation: Participants should wear comfortable clothing and prepare the following items for the city tour:

     a. Cell phone with local data
     b. Power bank for phone recharging
     c. Octopus card for transportation and ferry rides
     d. Water bottle

3. Lunch Arrangement: No lunch will be provided. Participants can choose their meal break during the photo-taking period.

4. Confirmation: Successful applicants will receive a confirmation email.

5. Deposit: A deposit of HK$200 is required to secure your spot. Seats will be assigned on a first-paid, first-served basis.

6. Sponsorship: UGC students will receive full sponsorship after participating in the workshop and completing the event survey.
