[UG] Community Engagement Organisers : Positive Ageing Learners Programme (CEOs- PAL)
Recognised by the Undergraduate Halls - Community Service Hours Scheme
Have you ever thought of serving the seniors in need in the neighboring community with the talents and gifts you have? According to the 2016 Hong Kong census, about 150,000 seniors aged 65 and above live alone, and almost 300,000 elderly live with their spouse. Seniors in social isolation under the pandemic is vulnerable to loneliness, and loneliness is both a contributing factor, and a result, of many physical and mental health problems such as anxiety, depression and even cognitive decline.#
The Providence Foundation's Elderly Care Programme 悟宿基金會「老」吾老計劃 Community Engagement Organisers : Positive Ageing Learners Programme (CEOs- PAL) of the Undergraduate Halls aims to serve seniors in our neighboring Wong Tai Sin community in two ways: Engage with seniors through a series of learning programmes on maintaining a positive ageing AND in a senior-youth buddy team reach out to seniors in social isolation to provide care and support.
Fee: Free of charge (volunteers are fully sponsored to all training and workshops)
Recognition: On successful completion, participants will receive 1) a certificate and 2) CCL on recognised activities
Eligibility: Open to all Undergraduate students, with priority to Halls residents
Major Medium of Instruction: Cantonese
Application Deadline: 19 September 2022, 1 pm
Selection Interview: 21-22 September 2022
