PADI Open Water Diver Course

I took a three-day course at the Paradise Diving Centre. At the beginning, I were instructed to self-study the first few chapters of the diver guideline prior to my first confined dive. I spent two nights in studying the chapter so that I could prepare myself for the practical. It is clear that my effort invested in reading through the material has paid off - my first dive was successful and I was able to fully understand all the instructions given by my diving trainer. On the second and third day, we continued our train with more dives - but in open water.  In open water, the current of the water is more rapid and therefore the situation warrants extra caution and attention from me, the trainee. We learned about the necessary skill to be equipped as a qualified diver such as controlled emergency swimming ascent. Besides the technical, hand-on experience and skill taught during field class, I have sat through two theory classes provided by the diving centre to educate myself on topics such as under water physical and equipments maintenance basis. With the unwavering effort from our trainer, I was assessed to be qualified PADI open water diver officially. Now, I can enjoy the joy of diving anytime.

During the three-day course, I have not only learned the important diving skills that would make me an open water diving but also the essential theoretical knowledge on diving. Furthermore, with my time spent under the water in Hong Kong, I have discovered a whole new world waiting in front of me - the ocean. I have witnessed the bio-diversity in the Hong Kong water. Contrary to my previous misconception where I thought there will be noting to be seen in the water of Hong Kong, but now I have proved that to be wrong.

In the future, I would love to further polish my skills by taking more courses in relation to diving. I am already planning to commit to the advance open water diver course later. In addition, I am hoping to explore the ocean in different parts of the world. With this diving license, I am given the keys to many more doors in the ocean. I cannot wait until spending more time in the ocean in Philippine and Thailand or perhaps Spain, for example. I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude towards the FGF for supporting students like to me explore the world and finding where their passion truly is.
