The Sir Edward Youde Memorial Award Schemes are now open for applications from students of the eight UGC-funded institutions. The different categories of awards are as follows:

Restricted to registered full-time students undertaking UGC-funded undergraduate courses in their second year of study (Year 2) or above. JUPAS or Non-JUPAS entrants without cGPA obtained at HKBU in 2018/19 will NOT be considered.

*Note that the deadline 15 Oct 2019 stated on the application form is only the deadline for institution's nomination. Applicants must submit their forms to the Office of Student Affairs on or before the internal deadline: 5:30pm, 27 September 2019 (Friday).

*Also note that applicants should be Hong Kong residents who have resided in Hong Kong for at least 3 years as at 1/9/2019. Those who are holding student visa to study in Hong Kong are not eligible to apply.

Student who wish to apply for the awards should:

  • read carefully the relevant information note listed above;
  • download and fill out Part I of the relevant application form;
  • invite your School/Faculty Dean or Head of Department / Programme to provide a confidential report to you on Part II of the form. The confidential report (Part II) should be a true copy. It needs to be hand-signed by your referee as well (i.e., not electronic version and/or with electronic signature). Part III of the form will be handled by the Office of Student Affairs, please do NOT invite other offices to complete Part III for you.

The completed form (Part I) together with all the supporting documents (e.g. copies of HKID Card, certificates, examination result reports, unofficial transcripts from BUniPort, proofs of participation in extra-curricular activities/community services and medical reports, etc., if any) and the confidential report (Part II) should reach the Office of Student Affairs, WLB 401 (Rm 401, Level 4, The Wing Lung Bank Building for Business Studies), Shaw Campus, at or before 5:30pm, 27 September 2019 (Friday).

In the event of unforeseeable circumstances, such as extreme weather, that resulted in the sudden closure of SFA Counter on the day of the deadline, SFA will extend the deadline of application to 5:30pm of the following working day.

Partial submissions / late applications will absolutely NOT be considered. Also, application form with e-signature or signature not signed by applicant, and scanned or photocopy of application form will NOT be considered.

You should ONLY attach relevant supporting documents with your application form. For example, activities/service proofs that are within the past 3 years. Note that submitting application forms attached with irrelevant documents, such as activities/service proofs that are not within 3 years, etc. might adversely affect your application.

Due to very limited nomination quota, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an internal panel interview at HKBU in early October 2019 (tentatively scheduled on October 9 or 10, 2019). Suitable candidates will then be recommended to the Fund Council for their final selection. For your information, the final interview organized by the Fund Council has been tentatively scheduled for December 2019 in Hong Kong. If you are not able to attend both interviews in Hong Kong, please do not apply.
