Scholarship and Bursary Donors’ Tea Reception
The Office of Student Affairs held the annual Scholarship and Bursary Donors’ Tea Reception on 2 May to express the University’s gratitude to donors for their generosity and untiring support over the years and to provide an opportunity for the beneficiaries to thank the donors in person.
This year, HKBU received generous donations from nearly 280 organisations, professional bodies, firms and individuals. Over 1,900 scholarship and 220 bursary awards totalling around HK$46 million were presented to students from different Faculties and Schools.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning), reported on the progress of two new schemes -- First-Generation University Student Fund and Admission Scholarship Scheme for Outstanding South and South East Asian Ethnic Minority Students. He also shared three stories of students who, with the support of scholarships, had greatly benefitted from the outside-of-classroom learning experience. He expressed his gratitude to the donors for their support and looked forward to their continued partnership with HKBU in nurturing brilliant leaders of tomorrow.
